Questions While we’re Closed? Here are Answers!

We are monitoring news and updates provided by the CDC, Allegheny County Health Department and the PA Department of Health and our local leaders. We will continue to evaluate whether continued closure is necessary.

During this time, the Library is relaxing its borrowing policies. Please hold on to your materials until we re-open. All late fees will be suspended.

Here are some answers to common questions:

I have a book/DVD/etc. due in two days! What should I do?
Please keep all library materials during the closure. Most items are being automatically renewed. All late fees will be suspended. Please continue to enjoy the items you have already borrowed.

Can I place something on hold during the closure? What happens to my existing holds?
Holds can be placed online as usual. During the closure, all holds will be frozen. There is no delivery of items. When we reopen, they will be fulfilled in the order they were received.

Can I get a library card during the closure?
Yes, you can apply for a digital library card here. This will enable you to access digital materials until the Library re-opens.

Can I renew an expired library card during the closure?
Cards are automatically being renewed for borrowers through December 31, 2020.
