One free card does it all in Allegheny County! Your library card is free and welcome at all public libraries in the county. Borrowers cards are issued free of charge to any individual with valid identification showing their current address. Applicants under the age of 14 must have the signature of a parent.

Any item may be renewed if there are no reserves on that item. 3 week items will be renewed for 3 weeks. 7 day items will be renewed for 7 days. Renew by telephone: 412-486-0211, or online with My Account or in person at the Circulation desk.
All items may be reserved. When the material is available the library will call you and hold it for two days. You may reserve materials online with My Account or by phoning the circulation desk at 412-486-0211.
Too busy to get to the library during our open hours? We have the solution. We are the first library in Southwestern PA (and maybe the whole state) to have an after hours locker. It's convenient and easy to use. Call us with your request and give us your library card number. When we have the item, we'll call you, put the items in the locker (located next to the single outside door facing the road between the school and the library). Stop by at your convenience; enter the last seven digits of your library card number, and the door pops open to reveal your materials. You are on your way within minutes. Easy and fast! Give it a try!
Any time the library is open. The book drop to the right of the Main Entrance (located in the rear of the building) is for books only. Please do not use it for fragile items such as cassettes, records, videos, DVDs, CDs or CD-ROMs. Any items that are designated "Local Request Only" must be returned to the Shaler North Hills Library.
There are charges for materials held beyond the loan period.
