Computer Classes at the Library
The Mouse
This is a basic computer class
for those who would like to learn the parts of the computer, keyboard basics
and the use of the mouse to navigate in a windows environment. (Taught 1
or 2 times a month -1 hour)
The Catalog
This class teaches the basics of the
online card catalog that supports the county libraries. Learn how to search
for author, title, subject and keyword and how to determine whether materials
are available at the Shaler North Hills Library. (Taught 1 or 2 times a month
-1 ½ hours) We strongly urge folks to take this class before moving on to
the Internet class.
Pre-requisite: knowledge of the mouse.
Basic Internet
This is an introduction to the Internet.
Learn some of the terminology, history and do some "hands on" work. (Taught 2
or 3 times a month - 2 hours).
Pre-requisite: knowledge of the mouse.
Microsoft Word
A basic introduction to Microsoft
Word, word processing software. There is a $10.00 charge for this class-money
will go to the Shaler North Hills Library Building Fund. (Taught 1 or 2 times a
month
- 2 hours)
Internet class for Readers
A fun class for those
who love to read! Visit sites for book groups, find reviews, learn Novelist
(a readers' advisory tool). (Taught 1 time, every other month - 1 ½ hours)
Pre-requisite: knowledge of the mouse, and some experience on the Internet.
